D&S Hosts Workshop with Newbury Students

D&S is eager to serve the community of Chardon with our newest location at 540 Fifth Avenue, which opens on January 4th, and we kicked this off with some fun for local students.

Last Friday, we held a workshop to teach the 7th graders from Newbury Junior High School about the auto body repair process.  We hosted over 40 students and had the chance to educate them about our industry in a hands-on and fun way. Rather than simply teaching in a classroom, we were able to walk them through some of the things that we do and give them a close-up look of the ins and outs of the automobile industry.

After providing lunch and giving out some goodie bags, students were divided into groups and went through several different stations.

Working with some of the professionals in our collision center and our friends at 3M, PPG and Fredon Manufacturing, the kids were given the opportunity to weld (shown above), examine a car during the repair process, paint a car with a spray gun, sand a car hood and learn more about the repair process.

To wrap up the afternoon, we demonstrated the power of an airbag with a display created by our automobile professionals, which the students especially loved.

D&S’ Vice-President CJ Paterniti, stated, “I’m excited to open something and grow something in my hometown.  This is an exciting time for my family and we look forward to serving and supporting the Chardon community and Geauga County.”

This was just the beginning of supporting the Chardon community, and we had a blast doing it.
