Ravenwood Health

Ravenwood Health is a private, nonprofit trauma informed care agency whose mission is to build hope, empower individuals and families, and strengthen our neighborhoods through mental health and addiction services.  In response to COVID-19, the staff at Ravenwood Health has joined forces to support individuals in the community and make a positive impact during the pandemic.

Ravenwood Health is all about helping people. And with all of the uncertainty and difficulties for people during this time, Ravenwood is doing what they can to make sure that their current and past patients know that they are still here for them. Case Managers have made it a priority to drop off care packages with food, medicine, hygiene items, transit passes and other essentials to patients and their families. Also included in these packages are boredom-busters, such as puzzles, books, family-oriented games and movies. They couldn’t do this alone, however. Many of the care package items are donated by local non-profit partners, such as Geauga County Job and Family Services, Geauga Food Banks, and Geauga County Transit. It’s amazing to see so many business come together to share resources and give back to the community.

“These are critical resources for those that may feel socially isolated,” Kristine Frankenberry, Development Director at Ravenwood Health, told us.  She added, “Together, with community partners, we are supporting individuals that have endured these circumstances long before what many of us are calling the “new normal”, as we are socially distant and staying home.”  This collaboration has resulted in delivered necessities to over 100 homes providing a sense of structure, safety and confidence.  Kristine shared with us some testimonials from patients. One of which stating, “Ravenwood taught me how to be comfortable with myself, now I’m less lonely. The most healing came from understanding my most difficult moments.” From statements like this, it is clear that the work that Ravenwood does, as well as other mental health facilities, is so important to the lives of many within our community.

In addition to the care packages, Ravenwood Health is acting as a resource for local business employees.  Ravenwood Health was asked by Geauga Growth Partnership to participate in a live video meeting discussing professional clinical advice in regards to managing stress and anxiety in the workplace with many of our business leaders. Ravenwood  was happy to participate.  “Our invitation does not stop there. We encourage these managers to contact us anytime, as well as have staff personally call our COPELINE should they need one-on-one support.” said Kristine.

In tandem, the care agency has launched Ravenwood Health First Responder and Essential Employees Support Groups in the wake of COVID-19.  Kristine explained, “Whether you are working in healthcare, as a first responder, or providing an essential service in other industries, the COVID-19 crisis is unique, extreme, and risky.”  In appreciation of the courageous and generous work that these individuals do, Ravenwood is offering free weekly online support groups exclusively for those on the front lines.  The groups are led by licensed mental health providers.  Furthermore, the care agency is also continuing to offer mental health and addiction services by way of telehealth and is committed to providing compassionate care during this time of uncertainty.

From D&S Automotive, we cannot thank Ravenwood Health enough for stepping up and stepping in to help our community and those individuals in need!
