What To Expect?
As an intern at D&S, you will gain hands-on experience repairing vehicles in a reputable body shop, working with highly skilled estimators, body and paint technicians, and managers. You will do more than fix cars; you will learn the ins and outs of the repair process and the most efficient ways to capitalize production and reduce waste.
The One-Year Student Internship Program is designed to provide customized, structured, progressive learning through a series of steps towards graduation.
Step 1: Job Shadow Rotations
The program kicks off with an orientation to learn more about your peers, coworkers and the company. Before you begin hands-on training, you will undergo a two-day introductory period in which you will shadow seven different departments to help you understand the business as a whole and guide you to your preferred career path.
Step 2: Hands-On at Location 1
Throughout the internship you will rotate between all three of our locations to get exposure to a variety of management and operation styles. This will better prepare you for your career, as you will know more than one way a shop can operate. At your first location, you will begin to get hands-on experience in your desired area of learning.
Step 3: Hands-On at Location 2
After your three months at your first location have come to an end, you will rotate to your second location, continuing with a focus in your departments of interest identified after the Job Shadowing period.
Step 4: Hands-On at Location 3
After your time at your second location completes, you will begin your last hands-on training at your third assigned location. While progression through the program is dependent on your abilities, at this point you should have progressed to being able to handle more complex responsibilities.
Step 5: Graduation
At the end of your yearlong program, it is a time to celebrate! You will receive a certificate of completion acknowledging you successfully completed the Program.
