D&S Automotive Collision & Restyling donated $5,000 to University Hospitals Rainbow Babies &Children’s Hospital of Cleveland after hosting its Second Annual Cruise-In for Rainbow Babies on July 25.
“It’s important to me to give back to Rainbow Babies because they took great care of my daughter when she was born,” CJ Paterniti, D&S Vice President, said. “The children there are precious and they deserve the best care.”
Seventy-eight vehicles registered for the event, and over 100 unique cars filled the lot on Tyler Boulevard. Vehicles were entered in five classes: Classic, Muscle, Truck, Tuner, and Lifted Vehicle. Registered Cruisers voted for the top three vehicles in each class. The winners received handmade Piston Trophies as recognition.
The “Most Unique“, a ’53 C5 Chevy Corvette, and the “Best Engine“, a 1970 Dodge Challenger, also received trophies.
The “Best of Show“, a 1970 Ford Mustang, was awarded a custom-made D&S Automotive toolbox.
“We had a great turnout and we raised a lot of money for a great cause,” Paterniti said.
The event raised $2,000 for UH Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital through Registration fees, a 50/50 Raffle, a Silent Auction, and a Prize Raffle. D&S matched the $2,000 and its sister company, Defender Auto Glass, donated an additional $1,000.
Raffle prizes were donated by fellow local businesses such as Kirtland Auto, NAPA Auto Parts of Mentor & Wickliffe, Brad Penn Dealer, Defender Auto Glass, Jimmy John’s, Quaker Steak & Lube of Mentor, Willoughby Brewing Company, Lure Bistro, Olivor Twist, TJ’s On The Avenue, Nickelby’s, and Burgers N’ Beer.
